THIS WEEK IN CLASS

This week in "Reader's Workshop" we'll continue our "Informational" text unit. We'll continue studying various text structures (Cause and Effect, Problem/Solution, Chronological Order, etc.) and begin to identify text structures in published texts.

In "Writer's Workshop" we'll take our top two ideas for our essay on an "Informational" topic, narrow down our main ideas for that topic, and write introductory paragraphs for each. Our Grammar for the week will work on Prepositions.

In "Writer's Workshop we will also study two more types of figurative language; "Personification" and "Hyperbole."

Our small groups this week will focus on areas of strength and weakness in using the R.A.C.E. Strategy.

In "Word Study." we'll do Unit 2. Lesson 2 will cover contractions with "had" and "would."

Our "Mentor Sentence" this week will focus on personification.
