10/31 - 11/4 - A Look at the Week Ahead (a.k.a. Peek of the Week)
THIS WEEK IN CLASS
This week in "Reader's Workshop" we'll continue our "Informational" text unit. We'll apply our knowledge of text structures (Cause and Effect, Problem/Solution, Chronological Order, etc.) to identify text structures in published texts.
In "Writer's Workshop" we'll continue our draft essay by completing the introduction and drafting the "body."
Our Grammar for the week will work on understanding the difference between plurals and possessives.
In "Writer's Workshop we will also study two more types of figurative language; "Alliteration" and "Idioms."
Our small groups this week will complete revisiting our areas of strength and weakness in using the R.A.C.E. Strategy for the groups that weren't able to meet last week. We'll also meet to go over the drafts we have started as time allows. Next week will be Book Club.
In "Word Study." we'll do Unit 2. Lesson 3 will cover vowel blends.
We will not have a "Mentor Sentence" this week due to the short week.
